Jockey: Kylie Silverstar
Last Ran: August Week Two Leg Type: Front Runner Some might see his more laid-back nature as an ill omen for his racing career, but they couldn't be further from the truth. When Stryker sees his racing gear, his ears prick up so quick and it's like there's a total shift in his demeanor. As soon as he prepped and saddled, he is ready to do his job and that is to run. He keeps a pretty level head in the post-parade and won't completely wash out, but he is definitely on his toes. If looks alone could win him the favorite slot, he'd be listed constantly. Fortunately for us and bidders, Stryker also has the talent to deliver. He loads great and stills with almost deadly precision, just waiting for the gate to open and when it does - he's gone. With his bulk, you'd think he was slow and cumbersome, but that just isn't the case because this guy will run wire-to-wire and never look back. |
cool as a cucumberStryker is a horse of much anticipation. His sire is a descendant from the Xenophon line meaning that this guy comes from a line that stresses performance and perfection. His grandsire, until Nightshade, was the only two time DTC winner and his granddam, Faith in Shadows, a full-sibling to GS Gallant Prince and winner of The Wire Finish Cup mile. Now that's just what Fireworks brings to the table. His dam, HOF Axis Mundae has accolades of her own and comes from a star-packed pedigree from BHOF War Admiral, BHOF Augusta and HOF Little Miss Innocent. So yeah, when we heard that Axis Mundae was having twins, Nicholas Landing jumped right on that.
Stryker is cool, calm and collected off the track. In all reality, he was one of the easiest horses for Ethan to train to saddle and such. He thrives with attention from his human counterparts, but doesn't particularly care about his equine companions. He neither hates nor loves them, but we found that he merely tolerates them. If pushed or provoked he will assert himself and throw around his weight and get them off his case. He prefers his peaceful paddock any day, to the rowdy company of his stablemates. |
