Last Ran: August Week Three Leg Type: Front Runner Talk about a quick filly. Black Widow has incredible starting speed, possessing the talent to rock back on her quarters and drive incredibly hard from the gates. As a yearling, her mischief-making ways simply meant there wasn't much order to it and she'd often be wildly out of control in the first furlong of the race while her jockey caught up with her speed. Now, after heavy training, we've finally managed to tame her breaks without hurting her starting spirit. She still has her days, of course, where she's hard to settle both before and after the gates and may take up to half the race to actually settle down and listen, but they are becoming rarer and rarer over time. Her quick breaks are typically enough to create space between herself and the pack. Widow typically leads by two lengths or so throughout the race, her incredible speed only increasing with each passing furlong. This is a filly that loves turning back challengers and doesn't go down without a fight; for each horse she faces, Widow brings to bear her incredible fighting spirit. She loves being at the front and loves going fast, so racing suits this blue-blooded filly just fine. |
you exist for my pleasureAttitude runs deep through the core of this bloodline and Widow is no exception. From the moment she hit the ground, this filly was testing her famous dam and those around her. She found her feet exceptionally quickly and hasn't stopped using them since. Where Black Widow goes, havoc follows. Her mind is as busy as central park and she never seems to be resting, be it chewing something she shouldn't be, tearing another rug to shreds, or hounding her paddock mates. Widow knows how to cause a commotion, and we've come to expect nothing but trouble from her. Widow is consistently in the spotlight, not because of her rich relations or because she's seeking it but because of the commotion she causes. She cares nothing for the consequences of entertainment and blatantly seeks more of it, from pinning pasture mates against the fence until they fight back to refusing to let go of her groom's clothes. Though it seems as though she's out to get everybody half the time, it's purely that she considers horses and humans objects of amusement for her. All the discipline and firm hands in the world could never convince this fun-loving filly otherwise. And just when you think you have her respect, well, Widow will hit you with everything that she's got!
