Last Ran: July Week Three Leg Type: Stalker Cathmora is a handful on the track, inclined to chew on her paddock pony's mane and "accidentally" run into other horses in the walking ring and along the track. She needs a firm but respectful hand or else she will drag her rider and anybody handling her all over the track. Mora will load like a charm provided no member of the gate crew so much as touches her bridle before she's in. She breaks quick and, true to form, picks a position from which she can torture the entirety of the field most effectively - a position slotted into third or fourth, just behind the leaders, gliding with the pace but not setting it. Mora is content to sit and watch the leaders fight it out while knowing many other horses wait to take their shot at the lead behind her. She will occasionally increase her speed enough during a race to bound up and take a shot at the lead, delicately torturing the front runners when she merely threatens to take it but doesn't take it before dropping back again. Announcers typically have little idea of how to interpret the mare's tactics, as her runs seem random and they never know when the real one will be. Even in the last stretches of the race, it's difficult to tell which run will be Mora's serious one before she's made it her serious one by clinching the lead and accelerating sharply to take the race going away. Mora wins her races by destroying her competition to the extent possible. This is a filly that wins by open lengths if she can and hates not demolishing the field of horses she faces. She expects to win in dominating fashion and revels in the feeling of it. |
your negligence will cost youCathmora is not a nice horse. The tall chestnut uses every hand of her height to intimidate those around her and get her way. This is a filly with a mind of her own and a will that breaks before it bends. Mora has no business being as nasty as she can be, inclined to bite for no reason or step on feet just to be irritating, and it's not even clear why she's so nasty - perhaps because she likes the feeling of being nasty, perhaps because it's enjoyable to be the object of constant wariness and attention around humans. Mora is a complete bully to horses, using surprisingly coltish strength to get her way and declare her dominance. She shows the cold, willful fire of older sister Lynara's Kingdom and the princely arrogance of older brother Silent Snap, but from Born To Fly she inherited precocious class and the ability to carry her speed further than a mile. Mora is not a horse to get in the way of, but a horse to obey (if you're another horse) or gain the respect of (if you're a human). She likes humans that have wills as strong as hers and who don't cave in the face of her innate rebelliousness. Mora is typically obedient and does what is asked of her, but we all know that's because she would be bored otherwise. Her flares of rebellion always quiet down eventually once you humor her, but they also erupt without earning. Mora is calmest when left in the kingdom of her stall to chew on hay and glare at every creature that goes by; at those moments, you'd almost believe she's a regular horse. Get closer to her, though, and Cathmora morphs into a furious chestnut capable of throwing a temper tantrum felt many stalls over.
