Last Ran: August Week One Leg Type: Stalker/Mid-Pack Mercurial Queen provides for no surprises on the track. She catches eyes the entire time she steps onto it, from her energetically graceful trot to the way she just looks as she warms up. She loads like a pro and gives absolutely zero issues to anybody. Queen has no compunctions about breaking fast and zipping straight to the lead, but a few times of doing that led to her being bored. Instead, Queen likes to be where the most horses are, but never directly at the front or at the back. Instead, Queen opts to be in the middle of the pack if there's a lot of speed up front. In cases in which there is not, however, the chestnut filly moves up to third or fourth place, trailing the leaders a length or two but always keeping an eye on them. When asked to go, Queen accelerates, swooping down on the lead and threading in between horses. Her agility and slim build lets her slip through gaps that other horses cannot, and within no time at all she finds herself at the front. Queen is not the type of horse to win by open lengths, however. Whereas her mother liked to do so, Queen likes to keep an eye on her competition. She will lead by a length or three, but never more, all so that she knows where everybody in the field is. |
the life of the partyThe gorgeous Mercurial Queen has a presence unlike any other member of her crop. Her brilliant chestnut coloring - a complete surprise given that none of her relations were chestnut, but not outside the realm of genetic possibility - and daintily sculpted head were attention-getting enough. Then you get to the look in her eyes - energetic mischief. Queen reigns over the kingdom of tricks. She is infamous for breaking out of her stall and going for a stroll around the stable grounds, typically to go see one of her friends nearby. Queen is an incredibly social horse. She hates being left by herself and can never be turned out in pasture without some horse nearby to keep her company. Queen is mischievous in a way reminiscent of Little Miss Innocent and her descendants. However, she possesses the crazy energy of the Mercurial Magic line. There's never a moment when this filly is tired; she's on the go and is ready to do what you ask of her 24/7. Queen's highly social personality belies a smart horse. You can't break out of every stall you've ever been ensconced in without some measure of intelligence, after all. Her eagerness to please paired with that intelligence made her one of the fastest horses to train in her crop.
