Last Ran: July Week Three Leg Type: Mid Pack Gunner is a powerhouse horse. One look at him and you can tell that he's a classic distance kind of animal, with rangy legs and a determined, hard-working disposition to match. Gunner likes to run. Before a race, he can be overly excitable, inclined to buck a few times in the paddock to express his excitement for all to see. Gunner has a very ground-eating stride and efficient way of moving that makes him pleasant to look at. He is also a pleasant ride, one of those types who won't give you any trouble as long as he gets to run. When the gates open, Gunner likes to lay low with the pack, somewhere where he can feel horses both in front of and behind him. He bides his time and lets everybody else tire themselves out at the front or eat the dirt or turf at the back. Around the final turn is when Gunner comes alive. When given the signal, Gunner responds, roaring to life and - quite fittingly - gunning for the lead. Gunner can accelerate sharply around turns, but he is at his fastest in the stretch. It is here that his heart can be put on full display for all to see. Gunner likes to win, and he likes to win by as much as possible. This is a horse that doesn't settle; the minute he clinches the lead, he's liable to keep accelerating as though he's still trying to catch the leader. This horse loves to go fast and doesn't handle traffic problems all too well; impediment to his motion can throw him off his game. Luckily, Amber Black has the experience to guide him to favorable outcomes the majority of the time. |
coming straight for youParagon - Gunner - is a fireball of a horse. Most of the time, he's a gentleman - sweet and affectionate towards both humans and horses alike. Give it time, though, and the embers will fire into full flame. Gunner will become energetic, hard to handle, and unable to take no for an answer. Call it a stubborn streak, call it a random wild streak, whatever you would like as long as you call it like it is - a volcano exploding before settling into dormancy and then exploding again. Thankfully, though, you can usually see the fire building on way in advance; this horse gives signs, whether it be a random pinning of his ears or sudden baring of his teeth. Also thankfully, the random bursts of temper never last for a long time; Gunner is quick to fire before he settles right back down again. In the barn, Gunner can be territorial. He doesn't like anybody approaching his stall without him seeing them first and is thus rarely relaxed when stabled, constantly on alert for approaching entities. Gunner is far more relaxed in the open pasture, where he can see anybody approaching ages before they reach him. Then his gentlemanly tendencies shine through; Gunner is often not difficult to catch, knowing that what awaits him could be a good grooming, a bath, a workout, or all three. He enjoys being taken care of; few things make him happier than a good session of pampering. This horse embodies all kinds of fire; slow-burning affection and molten aggression.
