Last Ran: August Week Two Leg Type: Closer Perseus is as efficient on the track as he is off of it. Warming up, he looks ice cold, the picture of poise and contained energy. He never gives any problems and is great right through the gate. When he races, Percy prefers to start at the back and work his way up. He will break typically five lengths off the field and stay there right through the first half of the race. Then, the game begins. Percy will begin to pick horses off one by one, gradually working his way up through the field. In the last quarter of the race, Percy is typically no more than a length off the leader, and full of energy. That’s when Percy really throws down the gauntlet, breaking into a full tilt sprint and attempting to overtake the leaders in no more than a few seconds. Once he’s done so, Percy just continues onward, bounding away to open up by as many lengths as he can before the wire hits and he’s stopped. It’s not uncommon at all for Percy’s final quarter to be his fastest; in fact, that’s practically a rule with this horse. The way that he accelerates past horses tends to demoralize them, if they even notice that he’s breezed past them. Percy hates losing and remembers who defeats him. He holds grudges, kind of like his sire did, and will always put in a special effort to beat those who he recognizes as rivals. |
inheritor of the kingdomPerseus presents a dream come true for everybody at Stride Of Perfection. His sire, Anarchi, was Impressario’s greatest rival, and in Percy we have the unification of these lines. Percy is the culmination of generations of breeding and it shows in his beautiful conformation, classy and powerful motion, and diehard attitude for racing. Percy tends to be cold and distant, yet brutally violent when provoked. He always seems to be somewhere else, barely acknowledging what goes on around him and givinig no visual indicator that he pays the slightest bit of attention to anything. However, Percy is frightfully intelligent and perceptive. He doesn’t need to be shown anything more than once and always remembers those he encounters. Percy prefers to be left to his own devices. If any try to impose upon his time or his space, Percy will outright ignore them. If that doesn’t work, this horse will turn his head and fix the object of his annoyance with a cold stare. That is typically enough to get anybody to back down; if not, the teeth come out. Percy is efficiently violent, just like his sire. He doesn’t waste a single iota of energy in accomplishing his actions. Percy typically dislikes the company of other horses – they usually impose themselves too much on his time and he considers it a waste of energy to bother associating – but those he does welcome into his company are typically other quiet types who know to respect his space.
