Last Ran: August Week Three Leg Type: Mid-Pack Saha is a hard horse to handle on the track - not because of aggression, but because he is constantly checking out new things. Before his first races at any of the tracks, it was absolutely necessary to ship him in early to work over the surface multiple times to avoid distractions during the post parades and leading up to the gate. Once accustomed to a track, Saha is all calm professionalism right up to the gates. He breaks with the best of them and is guided to a spot right in the thick of things, where he can take in all of the horses around him and see everything that is going on. It is absolutely essential that Saha be placed where he can see and be among most of the horses in the field, as this focuses him the most on the task at hand - racing. Saha loves to run, but he's not likely to stay focused unless there's other horses around to keep him entertained. He absolutely excels in races with large fields and is known for finding impossible paths right through the thick of the pack that guide him to the front. As the race enters its final quarter, Saha is given the cue to go, and his acceleration speaks to the sprinting legacy passed down to him from grandsire Sweet Sugar Cane. That acceleration, armed with the stamina from the rest of his pedigree, makes him a deadly foe on the track. Saha races for the front with youthful eagerness and once he gains that lead tends to run away with it, joyfully opening up. He loves running at full tilt and loves pleasing his rider, so he brings his all to every race and never goes down without a fight. |
you need only ask, for i can do it allSaha was an impulse edition to his crop, but boy do we not regret it. He is among the most flexible, can-do-everything horses that Stride Of Perfection has ever owned. Sprints, miles, classic distances, turf, dirt - Saha can do it all and relishes all of it with reckless abandon. Saha is a leggy, social, energetic horse who is more curious than any horse should be. He will be the first to examine a new object in his environment, sniff at a new groom, or slobber on a new piece of tack as it's being put on. He's fearless and friendly and is generally easy to work with . His curiosity and ability to adapt to changing circumstances made him a favorite to train, and his willingness to put his all into anything asked of him was a bonus. More than his curiosity, though, Saha is athletic. He loves to work and is incredibly sound, typically the one horse in the barn who doesn't get sick or experience physical ailments. In terms of other horses, Saha loves company and seems able to make a friend out of any horse, no matter how stand-offish. He doesn't possess a competitive nature, but he is utterly eager to please his rider and learn new things. Saha's curiosity makes him high-maintenance, though - he constantly requires new stimulation in his environment to keep him entertained. A bored Saha is a mischievous Saha - he is likely to break out of his stall, figure out just the right way to open the paddock gate, or calmly slip out of his halter so he can go exploring if he isn't provided with company or entertainment.
