Last Ran: August Week One Leg Type: Closer Trick is pretty easy to handle on the track as she's often just taking her time analyzing the competition and stretching her legs out in often amusing ways in the paddock ring, known to stop and casually stretch her legs in all directions one at a time in the middle of the circling. Easy to handle and easy to load, Trick breaks with average speed and takes her time running her race, not because she's slow and lazy but because she likes having options as the race progresses. With each furlong, Trick's intensity and speed builds. She waits for the perfect time to pounce and, once she sees it, she accelerates quickly, closing with intense ferocity through gaps that she's seen coming, leaving her rider on just for the ride as she cruises to the lead. Trick wins through the deadly combination of clever positioning and timing with her speed and strength. |
overpowering to the utmost extentFocused attention and a competitive drive are the core elements that make up this filly. She has that look in her eyes that lets you know she's studying, working, thinking things over 24/7. Like her mother, everything about her is strong, from her physique to her mental aptitude. This competitive drive makes her a bit unruly and hard to contain or control. Hard on the bit and hard on the hands, Trick is a tricky filly to direct. She needs to respect you first if you are going to get anywhere with her. She's an intense horse to handle, just as her dam was, but there's one easy way to her heart - food. When you can't get her to do what you want her to do, use a bucket of feed or a treat and suddenly Trick becomes surprisingly compliant! This is definitely a quirk that likely comes more from her sireline, and it's exploited to no end in the daily life of the barn.
