An Indigo Morning Homebred
Terminus was bred because we desperately needed new blood! We held a reserve to Akita Rose's flashy turf sprinter White Chocolate; the mare caught eyes after suddenly rising to prominence at four, going from undercards to steady HoTY to Breeders Cup winner at the end of the season. She won the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint twice and was a complete force to be reckoned with during her final two seasons of racing. Coming from a create line, we already knew that we wanted to diversify; along came our reserve to Stryker. Owned by an otherwise inactive barn, Stryker possessed old, proven Major Horse Shows lines that we wanted to inject into our ranks. Crossing him with White Chocolate made sense; old lines with a fresh, new pedigree. Terminus is the only son of Stryker in the game. The only other foal by White Chocolate is Intrepid Racing's Faded Dreams.
Jockey: Valencia Andrews
Last Ran: July Week Four Leg Type: Pace Presser Ter is a show off. He flaunts his strength in the post parade and always gives the gate handlers a hard time for the hell of it before finally going in with a disdainful snort. He breaks beautifully and takes his place just behind the leader, whoever it may be. Terminus loves to breathe down his opponents' necks. He likes to be nearly at the lead, but not actually in the lead, for as long as possible during a race. His bulk and positioning serve as small intimidation factors throughout a race. His competition may try to run away from him, but they will find Ter sticking stubbornly to their outside. He absolutely loves to torment his competition in a style reminiscent of Devil's Flair - yet another reason why Valencia Andrews is perfect for handling this colt on the track. She knows how to keep him happy but also keep him cool, reserved for the finish with just enough left in the tank to finally make his bid for the win. When Ter finally decides to stop tormenting his competition, he is usually locked into place on the outside and in the prime position to make a bid for the lead. Terminus receives the cue from his rider, refocuses on his ultimate task and takes off with a very quick kick for the wire. He stops loafing and actually starts walking, and his turn of foot is brilliant enough to stun. Once secure in first, Ter just keeps on going, seeking to open up daylight and fly under the wire well in front. He doesn't call it quits until he gets what he wants, and what he wants is that win. |
You called for a tank?Terminus is one of the most thickly built, muscly horses ever to race for Stride Of Perfection. As a result, no horse messes with Ter, unless they want a bad ending to their story. Ter is used to getting what he wants just by being present. If Ter wants that spot at the fence, the other horses better move. If Ter wants that carrot, you'd better give him that carrot or be ready to play a game of constant evasion with the colt. Ter is incredibly willful and demanding, and it's all a product of his size and bulk. If he was built any differently, he'd likely be an entirely different horse. As it is...only a few people can put up with his attitude, and the best human equipped is Valencia Andrews. Ter can be a bit of a brat, but Valencia knows how to put the colt back in line, if in line means obeying while giving the hardest time possible. Valencia is seemingly merely amused by this attitude rather than frustrated, however.
Ter is hardly a social animal. He's a horse, but he does not revel in being one among many. He likes to be special and unique, recognized in whatever way possible by the horses, humans and any other creatures around him. This is likely another reason why he likes to be a brat. Ter absolutely hates crowded spaces or the presence of a lot of other horses as a result. He prefers to stretch out in his roomy stall or private pasture rather than deal with a lot of other horses. A horse or two for him to lord over and a solitary kingdom are all he would ask of life if he could. |
